Thanksgiving Challenge: Day 2

Celebrating of another year of life....

How it all came together...

Since I have been posting bits & pieces of my bridesmaid journey... I thought y'all might want to see how it all came together, for the big day. These pix were snapped when we got home last night (after the wedding/reception)... enjoy!

It's been described as fun, funky, and elegant... yes, all in the same description. - lol!!

Just finished at the salon! And are now waiting at the reception site for the Trolley! - We're "Going to the chapel, and she's gonna get married"!!!

Vanessa

~ Tiffany & Vanessa ~ Summer of 1999 ~

Though we've known each other since we were just tikes (two or three?)... and saw each other on a a weekly basis for years.... we were oddly, nothing but mere ships passing in the night. Then one summer - the Summer of 1994 - something suddenly clicked between us... and from then on, we were best-friends! Through the years, she has stood by me during the good, the bad & the ugly. Our friendship has seen it share of tests & trials... yet the bond between us, has remained strong & true. Vanessa has truly been my "bosom friend." - my kindred spirit to whom I can confide my inmost soul. ;-) But alas, the pages have turned.. and the time since we shared those carefree days of our girlhood- our long walks, mini backpacks, spy clubs, and summer plays - have now swiftly drifted into nothing but fond memories. Mere short chapters in a much grander story of life. Our lives are forever moving forth, & ever-changing. Yet, I hope she knows that no matter what life brings... or how far apart we live.... she will always hold a very dear place in my heart.

So now, exactly 4 years and one week after she honored me, by standing as my bridesmaid in my wedding... it is her turn. Probably right now, as you are reading this... we are busily bustling around, in preparation for her big-day... which hold no greater honor & joy, than to be standing by her side, as she exchanges her vows, and starts such an amazing new chapter in her life! Congratulations Vanessa! I love you! <3

Brides reqst 4 our footwear: silver sandals ~ beyond that, it was our pick. Here's a pic of mine. Aren't they cute? The only thing Im worried about, is the heals. I'm a bareft gal... so I hope I don't fall on my face!! LoL!! ...off 2 practice!! ;)

Chk this out! I dnt usually paint my nails, Xcept 4 spshl occasions... but my sis gav me this one 4 Cmas... & its almst Xctly the same color as my dress 4 the wed!!

Holidays have come & gone...

The holidays have come & gone.... and now, so have all of it's visitors! It is really amazing how fast these last few weeks have seemed to fly by! It seems like just yesterday, we were happily preparing for the fast-coming Christmas.... and now it's January 2nd.... and the festivities are all over! wow! My three longtime and closest friends (Vanessa/Chris, JAmes, Nora/Steve) - who are now living scattered throughout US - all got to come home for Christmas! What a blessing that was! They each led extremely busy schedules while they were here (holidays, family, wedding preparations, surgery, etc...), yet they all made some time to see me - I was thrilled, and SO grateful! It's always wonderful to spend time with each one of them, and catch up on each others lives! :-)

Sadly, though... the days have fled... and it all had to come to an end. So now, even as we speak, they are each on their journeys back to their location of residence (Indiana, So Cal, & Kansas, respectively)... and back to work & lives as adults. Speaking of which.... B also officially started the crazy three weeks of chaos (aka take down), at work today.... so here I am. KB is sleeping.... and, as you can imagine, it's pretty solitude around here. Thankfully.... there is much that needs to be done.... the dishwasher needs emptying & reloading.... laundry is desperately calling to be tended to... and I have many pictures that need editing - most importantly, the pictures I took for Vanessa & Chris' engagement session!! But that still doesn't make my heart any less lonely.... I guess you can say, I am having a bit of a melancholy day.

So, goodbye everyone! I'll miss you... but I know I'll see you soon! (and talk to you even sooner!) ~ Love you all!

SImple Woman's Daybook

For Today... December 30, 2008 (almost the end of 2008)

Outside my Window... a beautiful, sunny day! - perfect for taking pictures!!

I am remembering... back through everything this year has held... and what a year it's been!

I am thinking... how true this [lyrical] line is: "everything will change, but love remains the same..."

I am wearing... white tank, under orange striped shirt... knee length jean skirt... Old Navy flip flops... hair & makeup done..

From the kitchen... Just made some soup for lunch... we're having dinner at the DeVeaus house, tonight. - tomorrow, pizza at church - Thursday, we need to make mashed potatoes for dinner at Nouna's.... and if I have leftovers, I think I'll make shepherd's pie on Friday!!

I am creating... Getting ready to create engagement photos for Vanessa & Chris!! <3

I am hearing... Music playing from Pandora...

One of my favorite things... spending time with longtime friends!! ::warm fuzzies::

Around the house... Need to do laundry, and scrub bathroom... and there are always a few KB toys to pick up... but for the most part, it doesn't look half bad...

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week... Like I mentioned before, I have an Engagement session with Vanessa & Chris this afternoon, followed by dinner at the DeVeaus' house --- Tomorrow evening we have a New Years Eve Service, where I have to play for one of the special musics of the night. B will also be giving one of the eight [preaching] challenges during the service!! Then, following the service I think a few families are staying around for Pizza & Wii --- Thursday, we have dinner at Nouna's -- I would also like to drop off some "recovery" flowers to Mrs. M, who is having hand surgery on Weds afternoon --- Nora/Steve & JAmes (as well as Vanessa/Chris) leave to head back home, on Friday... so I am also hoping to see each of them, one more time before they leave!! --- B starts take-down with Trimmers on Friday afternoon. --- We're supposed to have a 4-H meeting on Sat, but with B working, I don't think I'll go. --- I think I have offertory on Sunday, again.

I have known Vanessa for a long time.... since we were three years old(!)... and I can honestly say, I haven't met a sweeter, kinder, more giving person! I am so blessed to have her in my life, to call her my best-friend!

Happy Birthday Vanessa! I hope you have a fantastically *great* day! Thank you SO much for sticking by me over all these years, and being such an awesome friend! I can't tell you how much I look forward to standing next on your wedding day.... as you & Chris proclaim your love before God, friends and family... it is going to be SO awesome! - I am truly honored to have the privilege of being part of your special day! I love you!

Bridesmaid

One of my dearest & closest friends, is getting married.... and I am going to be a bridesmaid! She just asked me tonight!! I am SOO excited!

BFF... engaged!

My childhood-long best friend just called.... and her boyfriend proposed to her tonight!! I cannot tell you how excited I am for her!! Her ring is the one pictured above.... Isn't it absolutely gorgeous?! I can't *wait* to see it in person!! The really neat thing about her call last night.... is that I called her the night B proposed to me, and she thought it to be so special, that she wanted to make sure I was one of the first to know of her happy news! Wasn't that so sweet of her?!

Congratulations Vanessa! I wish you ALL the best! Let me know if there is *anything* I can do for you!! Love you!!
