Movie Review: Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief

Don't know if it's due to my interest in Greek culture (b/c of my FIL's heritage)... but  for whatever reason, I  really enjoyed this movie!

About a struggling high school boy - set in present time - who suddenly learns he is a demigod. A descendant one of not just any god, but one gods of Mount Olympus - Poseidon. After a brief visit to Camp half-blood - a camp for training demigods.... Percy, along with fellow demi-god, warrior Annabeth (daughter of the goddess, Athena) and his childhood friend, Grover (who he discovers is actually a brave Satyr, and his protector), set out on an adventure to redeem him name (he is accused of stealing Zeus' lightening bolt), and rescue his mother from Hades.

This moving "Google Search Story" was made by none other than my hubby!!  It is titled "Taking Responsibility" as it was with  purpose  to encourage teens & adults alike, to take responsibility for their actions.... :-)  Well done, my love!!

Hey Austen fans, guess what! ~ BBC has put out new version of Emma!!

The four part, mini-series was aired this month in the UK... but sadly, it's not to be brought to PBS here in the states, until February...

BBC Worldwide Sales and Distribution and WGBH today announced co-productions of two star-studded dramas: the beloved classic, Emma, and the sequel to BAFTA-winning and Emmy-nominated drama Cranford, Cranford 2. Both programs will make their U.S. premiere in early 2010 on WGBH’s MASTERPIECE CLASSIC on PBS.

Commented Susanna Pollack, SVP, Sales & Distribution and Children’s, BBC Worldwide, Americas, “Following Cranford’s success in the U.S. and UK, we are excited to be working with WGBH again to bring its sequel, Cranford 2, as well as the Jane Austen’s classical tale, Emma, to audiences next year.”

Michael Gambon plays Emma’s affectionate, neurotic father who allows her to be mistress of their household. Note: After discovering this, late last night, I watched the entire first episode (yes all six parts)!! So far is seems to be a really great adaption! ~ Can't wait to watch the rest... :)

Movie Review: UP

Tonight we went and saw Pixar's newest movie, "UP" in 3D for our date night.

Synopsis: A young Carl Fredrickson meets a young adventure spirited girl named Ellie. They both dream of going to a Lost Land in South America. 50+ years later, Ellie has died. By tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream and promise to Elle - to go to Paradise Falls. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey. Russel, an 8 year old Wilderness Explorer, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip. Together, they embark in an adventure, where they encounter talking dogs, an evil villain and a rare bird named Kevin.
